Is this thing really on? That was my first thought when I used the Zalman NC2000 laptop cooler. I don't think there is a less noisy laptop cooler. I fits virtually all laptop sizes, from netbooks to the 20in mammoths. Believe all the hype about this thing. My recommendation is to go the Zalman website and look at all the specs and noise data; and believe it, because its true. You might think that its a little expensive for a laptop cooler, but its well worth the money. You will not need to buy any other laptop cooler ever.

In terms of functionality its very versatile since it has a control knob that is used to alter the fan speed. Uses the USB port to draw power and even has an extra USB port integrated in the cooler, meaning that you do not loose any of your USB ports. Now the only bad thing about this device is that is not so portable, although you can still sit it in your lap, provided you are a reasonably sized person, not a 90lb girl. It might not fit in your existing laptop bag, but in my opinion if you need a laptop cooler is for when you are doing extreme computing, such as gaming, graphics, video editing, etc. If you really need a laptop cooler that will increase the life of your HD, processor and GPU, this is the one.

This thing will fit up to 20" of laptop, it fits 15.5" almost perfect. It has an extra USB port so you dont lose on when you are using the cooler. The speed of the fan are totally adjustable, and it runs super quite on high, I dont see a reason to turn it lower.



The thing that impressed me was it cools the entire system, eliminated all the hot spots on my PC. Huge fan (no pun intended), wich I would have bought this years ago. If the saying is true "An extra fan adds a year to the life of the computer" then this would have saved me about two laptops.

So far so good! I've had this thing for several months and I'm pleased with it. It fits in my backpack (though it needs the large compartment) and it keeps my laptop cool to the touch. Unlike other cheaper models I've burned through quickly, it seems quite robust, both in terms of the solid hardware and in the easy-to-use USB cord connecting it up. Someone else mentioned the way it feels on his/ her lap, saying that it pokes a bit. I haven't noticed that, but I have noticed that it scratches my desktop. The back has a piece of metal that comes right down and has left quite visible marks on my desktop. (I finally got a cover for the desk which solves the problem.) This minor annoyance aside, I'm quite happy with the device and I fully recommend it. Just be aware!

I have been reading reviews and researching laptop coolers since my latest Acer 5534 laptop purchase over 3 months ago. I initially balked at the price on this Zalman NC2000 even though it was very obvious after only a few days of research this cooler was the premier unit. I was already familiar with the Zalman brand and it's high quality line of cooling products. So finally I bought it from Amazon and a couple days ago it arrived. I could not be more pleased and could not be more impressed - both - by it's cooling capabilities and it's general overall quality. It fits my wide angle 16x9 screen Acer 5534 laptop perfectly with about 1/2 inch extending past each side of the computer. There is about 1 inch of the Zalman NC2000 extending at the front and rear of this laptop. It is so very quiet even on it's highest fan setting. It has a nice blue LED power indicator on the right side where the controls are located. My laptop never leaves my desk so the weight of about 3lbs is no factor for me to it's portability and I cannot honestly comment on how well-suited this Zalman NC2000 may be on one's actual lap. With it's 290+ chambered cooling vent holes it will definitely blow air into all your laptop air intakes wherever they may be located. That design was one of the factors that helped me decide on this Zalman. I also purchased and tried a few cheapie coolers and found they were either noisy, had limited effect due to poor alignment with the air intakes on the bottom of my laptop, or were just too cheap looking and did not compliment the appearance of my work station. That was also a factor in my selection of this Zalman NC2000 as it is available in either black or silver colors. I chose black and it has enhanced the looks of my desk where I spent 8 or more hours each day. It is powered from an existing USB port and as such is very portable in that regard should it ever leave my desk. It has a variable speed thumbwheel fan speed control. A push button on/off and a sexy blue LED power indicator all on the unit's right hand side. The left hand side sports an additional USB port so using this cooler does not rob a USB port from your operating hookup. Using CoreTemp software I installed previous to buying this Zalman I accumulated data on the AMD L310 dual core cpu in this Acer 5534 laptop. This Zalman reduces my core temps from 6-8 degrees C from whatever temp I have reached prior to switching it on. It is very effective, very quiet, very handsome-looking, and with the blue LED very sexy-looking too. This larger NC2000 model was needed for my wide angle 16x9 screen laptop. The Zalman NC1000 is also available for laptops not as wide. While a bit on the pricey side I can and do heartily recommend this product 110%.

I am always looking for coolers with excellent build quality and that can maintain ice for longer periods of time. I recently got into "5 day" and "6 day" coolers. This is a review of the Coleman 6-Day 50 Quart Ultimate Xtreme Cooler.



When packing coolers, pre-chilled drinks and cubed ice are used. I use cubed ice because it is convenient, but understand that blocked ice maintain much longer than cubed ice. When tested, the Coleman Ultimate Xtreme Cooler kept ice for 60 hours (2 and a half days). Again, I am mindful that without blocks of ice, I cannot expect a full 6-days of ice retention. The Ultimate Xtreme significantly outperformed the older Coleman 48 Quart Cooler that maintained ice for only 24 hours.



The build of the cooler appears to be good. Looking at the cooler, the lid and walls of the cooler appear extremely well insulated. The lid appears to align decently with the body of the cooler, though the front and center of the lid does not appear airtight. Also, the drainage outlet has no significant "locking" feel as my old Coleman 48 Quart did. I noticed that condensation formed along the drainage outlet of the cooler. This is likely due to less insulation around the outlet. Not a big deal, but an inconvenient one as my wood floor got wet during the testing period.



Something to consider about this cooler is the canal on the inside of the cooler that leads to the drainage outlet. The canal is helpful in allowing any water in the cooler to drain almost completely without the need to tip the cooler. However, when packing the cooler, the cans will not line up easily or nicely due to the concave build on the bottom of the cooler due to the canal. Some people will see it as a plus and some will see it as a minus, I am neutral on this. I would recommend taking a look at the inside of the cooler to get a better picture. However, as a previous review mentioned, it would have been nice for the drainage outlet to be on the opposite side of the cooler due to the towing handle was in the direct path of the draining water. In addition, the long handle is just a tad longer than the bottom of the cooler when at rest, which digs into the ground when you park the cooler. So if you are outside, the tip of the long handle will likely dig into the ground, dirtying your handle.



The insulation appears to be an impressive 2-inches. As a result, you definitely notice this in the weight of the cooler. The cooler is hefty, especially when packed with cans and ice. Thankfully, the wheels on the cooler make transporting it easier and appear to work really well.



Overall, the Coleman 6-Day 50 Quart Ultimate Xtreme Cooler has decent build quality and good performance. This cooler is rated a 4.0 out of 5.0, which could be improved if the lid was better aligned with an airtight closure in the front-center of the lid, a more secured drainage valve, improved position of the drainage valve with respect to the long handle, and a little better performance.

We purchased the Coleman Xtreme 50 Qt. and it really DOES keep the ice for 5-6 days. Great addition to the boat! In general, we love it. But, why did Coleman put the petcock for the drain on the same end of the cooler as the long tow handle? If they had just put the drain at the opposite end, one could leave it open and allow it to drain naturally while being towed across parking lots, docks or picnic areas. As it is now, if you want to drain off surplus while it is standing still, you have to lift it by a short handle and bend over while it drains. When loaded, this guy IS heavy...kind of tough on us 'boomers'. Just a thought...Carol Johnson - Morganton, GA

I bought this for my wife to take on grocery shopping trips that are integrated into her bi-weekly paper route. She used our regular hard-side cooler until the volume of free papers grew to the point that there was no room for them and the old cooler. Since many of the papers have been delivered by the time she gets to the store, this seemed to be a good solution and it is. The unit has a removable, rigid piece that serves as the bottom of the cooler and helps to keep it expanded but I suppose it could also be used as a divider if needed. The unit seems to be built solidly and even has a "pop top" for access without unzipping the full top. As some others have mentioned, having only side handles makes it necessary to use two hands when carrying it so some kind of strap across the top would have made it perfect but it is still very nice. My wife is happy with it and that makes me happy too! I figure we can use it on our camping trips as well and those wheels and handle are certainly alright by me (I'm tired of carrying a heavy, rigid cooler around....).

You know what that means.



I buy lots of things off of Amazon and am generally satisfied but this is the second large cooler ordered on Amazon to come in this condition. I will try Walmart or other stores, in the future for large coolers. To be fair, the other large cooler came from Target.



I complained and they took 30% off however I really do not want it and will return it if I can get the thing in my little car to the UPS store.



Still, it does look like a decent cooler so the two stars have more to do with the condition of delivery.

I ordered this cooler to replace an Igloo Icecube I currently have. The Igloo has lasted me for a while and has been solid. I needed something to hold ice for longer periods of time though.



It arrived in good shape and I took it immediately outside and filled it with water. I watched for a while to see if there are any leaks and it did not leak. I threw some ice inside and let it sit on the back porch for a couple days and the ice is still in there after a couple days. Granted it is around 50 degrees here but in my other coolers it would of melted already. I think this is a big upgrade over the igloo and it did not cost much more. It was only around $15 difference for around the same size.



The only thing that would concern me is the hinges. The hinges seem a little weak but only time will tell and the other Coleman cooler I have has the same type of hinges and is still going strong.

This cooler is perfect for camping with our pop-up. It keeps food cold for at least five days with the original bag of ice! We use the plastic freezer blocks instead of ice for keeping perishables fresh, but the ice we do buy for drinks, stays pretty much frozen for about 4 days. Then helps to keep the other products cold for about two more days. Definately worth the price.

Is this thing really on? That was my first thought when I used the Zalman NC2000 laptop cooler. I don't think there is a less noisy laptop cooler. I fits virtually all laptop sizes, from netbooks to the 20in mammoths. Believe all the hype about this thing. My recommendation is to go the Zalman website and look at all the specs and noise data; and believe it, because its true. You might think that its a little expensive for a laptop cooler, but its well worth the money. You will not need to buy any other laptop cooler ever.

In terms of functionality its very versatile since it has a control knob that is used to alter the fan speed. Uses the USB port to draw power and even has an extra USB port integrated in the cooler, meaning that you do not loose any of your USB ports. Now the only bad thing about this device is that is not so portable, although you can still sit it in your lap, provided you are a reasonably sized person, not a 90lb girl. It might not fit in your existing laptop bag, but in my opinion if you need a laptop cooler is for when you are doing extreme computing, such as gaming, graphics, video editing, etc. If you really need a laptop cooler that will increase the life of your HD, processor and GPU, this is the one.

This thing will fit up to 20" of laptop, it fits 15.5" almost perfect. It has an extra USB port so you dont lose on when you are using the cooler. The speed of the fan are totally adjustable, and it runs super quite on high, I dont see a reason to turn it lower.



The thing that impressed me was it cools the entire system, eliminated all the hot spots on my PC. Huge fan (no pun intended), wich I would have bought this years ago. If the saying is true "An extra fan adds a year to the life of the computer" then this would have saved me about two laptops.

So far so good! I've had this thing for several months and I'm pleased with it. It fits in my backpack (though it needs the large compartment) and it keeps my laptop cool to the touch. Unlike other cheaper models I've burned through quickly, it seems quite robust, both in terms of the solid hardware and in the easy-to-use USB cord connecting it up. Someone else mentioned the way it feels on his/ her lap, saying that it pokes a bit. I haven't noticed that, but I have noticed that it scratches my desktop. The back has a piece of metal that comes right down and has left quite visible marks on my desktop. (I finally got a cover for the desk which solves the problem.) This minor annoyance aside, I'm quite happy with the device and I fully recommend it. Just be aware!

I have been reading reviews and researching laptop coolers since my latest Acer 5534 laptop purchase over 3 months ago. I initially balked at the price on this Zalman NC2000 even though it was very obvious after only a few days of research this cooler was the premier unit. I was already familiar with the Zalman brand and it's high quality line of cooling products. So finally I bought it from Amazon and a couple days ago it arrived. I could not be more pleased and could not be more impressed - both - by it's cooling capabilities and it's general overall quality. It fits my wide angle 16x9 screen Acer 5534 laptop perfectly with about 1/2 inch extending past each side of the computer. There is about 1 inch of the Zalman NC2000 extending at the front and rear of this laptop. It is so very quiet even on it's highest fan setting. It has a nice blue LED power indicator on the right side where the controls are located. My laptop never leaves my desk so the weight of about 3lbs is no factor for me to it's portability and I cannot honestly comment on how well-suited this Zalman NC2000 may be on one's actual lap. With it's 290+ chambered cooling vent holes it will definitely blow air into all your laptop air intakes wherever they may be located. That design was one of the factors that helped me decide on this Zalman. I also purchased and tried a few cheapie coolers and found they were either noisy, had limited effect due to poor alignment with the air intakes on the bottom of my laptop, or were just too cheap looking and did not compliment the appearance of my work station. That was also a factor in my selection of this Zalman NC2000 as it is available in either black or silver colors. I chose black and it has enhanced the looks of my desk where I spent 8 or more hours each day. It is powered from an existing USB port and as such is very portable in that regard should it ever leave my desk. It has a variable speed thumbwheel fan speed control. A push button on/off and a sexy blue LED power indicator all on the unit's right hand side. The left hand side sports an additional USB port so using this cooler does not rob a USB port from your operating hookup. Using CoreTemp software I installed previous to buying this Zalman I accumulated data on the AMD L310 dual core cpu in this Acer 5534 laptop. This Zalman reduces my core temps from 6-8 degrees C from whatever temp I have reached prior to switching it on. It is very effective, very quiet, very handsome-looking, and with the blue LED very sexy-looking too. This larger NC2000 model was needed for my wide angle 16x9 screen laptop. The Zalman NC1000 is also available for laptops not as wide. While a bit on the pricey side I can and do heartily recommend this product 110%.
