This cooling pad is everything it claims to be. I keep it on the highest setting for cooling, as my HP gets really hot. I do have to set the laptop arranged just so on the pad so the fans can reach the hot spots. Also put a piece of cardboard across the back bottom, (1)to keep my legs from choking out the fans and (2) the edges of the pad are uncomfortable straight on my legs. I consider these to be minor issues because I am more concerned about frying the computer. This cooler is more than capable for cooling and very quiet. I researched A LOT and so far I know I made the best choice.

I bought two of these recently; one for my wife and one for myself. We're *that* couple... We're the ones who sit on their living room couch, laptops on their laps, never more than 2 feet apart, constantly surfing the web and IM'ing each other.
Some time ago, I bought a $20 piece of junk from a big box store and it fell apart within days (the power input actually came loose and fell *into* the tray). I vowed not to buy another one.
Well, after months of my wife's laptop constantly entering sleep mode and powering off due to heat problems, and the not-so-attractive burn spots on my leg not going away, I'd decided it was time to look for another cooling solution. Except this time, I did some proper research and happened upon this bad boy.
It works. It also works well:
- It's deathly quiet.
- Our laptops have remained cool to the touch on the keyboard, and only moderately warm in parts where they used to be unbearably hot (i.e. video card).
- It has two USB ports: One for powering the device and the other to be used as an additional working USB port. Awesome!
And in the words of Forrest Gump, "..and that's all I have to say about that."

I have the Dell Studio XPS16 and it runs hot. After putting it on the Zalman ZM-NC 2000 Cooler, it runs very cool. The Cooler is so quiet you can hardly hear it operating. The addditional USB port is a great feature.

I have a T61P that got so hot I could use it to keep my coffee warm. Using this cooler has the laptop cool. I have not had time to measure the actual temperature difference but it has to be significant. Before I could not sit it on my lap because it was so hot. Now when I lift the laptop off the cooler it's not even warm. Great purchase to protect a laptop and much cheaper than getting treated for 3rd degree burns or replacing a burnt CPU.

I searched far and wide for the right cooling unit, I read several reviews. This was highly rated,and for good reason. The unit is quiet, has excellent cooling capabilities, uses one USB but has extra port for open use on unit. Adjustable cooling speeds. A+++++
